Amplify! Eastern Europe

This project aims to connect, voice and support people who migrated from an Eastern European country and are now living in Maastricht. These people may have a relatively good life now, but where they come from may not be a place they see a future in staying.
This made me question what standards are established in a European society and why isn’t there more authority looking over the economic equality between the Eastern and the Western part of Europe to harmonize the values and social standards in the European Union? With the Eastern European community, we looked for solutions to bring balance between the Eastern and Western societies.

"Amplify!" took place in 12 countries of the EU. In the Netherlands it was carried out by H401 in collaboration with DutchCulture, LKCA, Creative Court, BA Photography of the Royal Academy of Art The Hague (KABK), Het Geluid Maastricht and iArts Maastricht. H401 co-ordinated the project locally and liaised with the 11 other European countries initiatives and the lead partner, Culture Action Europe shared outcomes directly with the European Parliament on Europe Day 2022 in Brussels.

Inspired by the project 'Amplify!' I aim to take this project to the next level as my graduation project for iArts Maastricht. This project focuses on civic integration in the Netherlands and it's long term consequences for an individual. I am using my personal experience going through this process in an artistic setting to show how it impacts the life of foreigners wishing to remain in this country.

I look at the differences between Eastern and Western Europe by specifically comparing the Netherlands and Hungary, my home country, using self-observation, writing and visual translation as the main artistic tools.
